Managing the social medias has been quite the indulgent learning experience! Ever since taking over posting on the Facebook I’ve been able to compare analytics between the social media platforms and work out what does and doesn’t work with the algorithms! It’s been fun planning out the different posts and photos to go with it. Another thing I do is take the photos that you see on our feed! I’m encouraged to express my creativity through the process of planning out and editing pictures of our products, all while thinking of how to post them, and in what order!

One thing I’m grateful for is being able to work with a company that supports very similar goals to my own! I love the strides that we make to educate ourselves and others on Alan’s story and others like him! I feel that disabled people’s employment and representation is something very well needed and being able to work towards that has been really fun and rewarding! We research different charities that help support others in that community, and we always try to give back! Hearing our growing business plan of giving people with special needs an inclusive place to work has been really inspiring, and I love seeing how it’s playing out day to day.

It’s been exciting to be able to experience all different lessons from the marketing and business world, and I’m so grateful to have an opportunity where I can learn different methods of marketing and promoting a business, while executing it firsthand! Not only have I learned a lot about marketing a company through social media but learned many more fundamental aspects to running a business in general! Being a young entrepreneur, I was worried about getting experience in marketing and learning how to run a business and having an opportunity such as this has given me a skill set that could take other years longer to learn. From simple things like figuring out which hashtags can boost our content most efficiently, to working with percentages to determine something as small as which lighting gets the most interactions.

One great thing about working for Alan’s Soap Company that I feel wouldn’t be the same with a different company is how much I get to learn along the way and get to be a part of a growing company. Since this business is a smaller one, I get to aid in building a business from the ground up and seeing the process of getting the first samples of soaps to seeing our products in stores has been really captivating! I get to be educated on all details that go towards producing a product, and the process of choosing what goes into making it, pricing a product, and releasing that very product to the public and measuring the reception that we see based on interactions and purchases! I finally got to put a use to the math that I was learning in school in a real-world scenario!

I’d like to know what you think of the social media, along with how we express Alan’s story through means of informing others on his condition and how disabled people do or don’t get employed, and what it should and shouldn’t look like! Dropping a comment on our posts or leaving us feedback, or even giving us a follow is really helpful and allows me to continue to learn the different details of a business!
